The Hunting and Sailing Sale Exhibition by Artmark

Terrestrial versus Marine. This is not a scenario of an epic conflict where the Gods dispute their power, nor any Hollywood movie catchword, but a clue in discovering the Hunting and Sailing Sale Exhibition, organized by Artmark at Vega Hotel on Sunday, 19th of July, at 8 p.m. In the summer spirit, Artmark invites the public to rediscover their hobbies from a different perspective, that of history. Thus, the exhibition offers these noble sports enthusiasts the opportunity to explore the 18th, 19th, and 20th Century having as starting point the sailing and hunting collectibles showcased.

Those who fancy travelling and the seaside will have the opportunity to extend their collection with: an Earth Map made by Royal Geographic Society; an impressive model of a Schooner; a brass maritime telescope or a Russian Astrolabe or an old navigation Compass from the second half of the 18th Century and many others.

Although the sailing section is quite spectacular, the highlights of the Hunting and Sailing Sale are the leather and bone carved monogrammed Game bag of Nicolae Ceausescu and the famous hunting and mountain expeditions car, Land Rover Series IIA, 1970. Both lots are notorious, the first for being a testimony of the dictator’s lifelong passion, and the other for being one of the most reliable off-road vehicle ever produced (used in filming documentaries in Africa, Asia and Australia by most of the scientific caravans of 20th Century).

Also, the visitors will be able to enjoy a Dimitrie Stiubei marine paintings collection, known as hopelessly in love with the sea and the water world, as well as a collection of rare whiskey selection.

The Hunting and Sailing Sale Exhibition can be visited between the 15th of July and the 16th of July at the Museum of National History and Archaeology Constanta, and between the 17th and 19th of July at Vega Hotel, Mamaia, where the sale will also take place on Sunday, 19th of July, at 8 p.m.
